The Crushing Plant

Before the ore enters the blast furnaces, it must be crushed. The crushing plant was often located on the mine grounds. This was also the case in Doihl, where the building that housed the plant still stands today. The actual crusher was dismantled when the mine closed.

The crushing plant was located in the lower part of the building in the background. The ore trains ran through the upper part. The crushed ore was transported by conveyor belt to a stockpile, from where it was loaded onto the cable car.

In some mines where mining was mechanized, there was an underground primary crusher.
