The locomotive was used by ARBED Mines Françaises at the “Mine des Terres Rouges.” This type of locomotive was usually used in double-unit operation (see below).

The locomotive’s high power output was necessary to haul the heavy ore trains to Esch-Alzette.
It should be noted that the average grade of the line was between 20 and 30‰.
Such an ore train consisted of either 8 (total 304 metric tons), 10 (total 383 metric tons), or 12 (total 447 metric tons) cars.

1996: Still in regular operation at ARBED Mines Françaises

After ARBED ceased iron ore mining in 1997, the locomotive was added to the Minièresbunn collection.

ARBED had a total of 8 locomotives (70–77) of this type in service.
